Summary: The publication provides a detailed analysis of the literature on the features of sequestration of carbon and nitrogen depending on the type of biome, soil and climatic conditions, abiotic and biotic factors, such as anthropogenic load, higher plant species composition, anatomical and biochemical characteristics of plants of different ecomor- photype and carbon metabolism, tillage technologies, application rates and chemical composition of mineral fertilizers, taxonomic diversity of microbiocenosis. Modem approaches that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the conservation of carbon and nitrogen compounds in natural and agroecosystems are considered. The monograph also contains recommendations for communities and government organizations that will improve the overall balance of greenhouse gases in Ukraine.
