Summary: The monograph analyzes and summarizes new data from modern literature on methods of synthesis of metal nanoparticles, metal oxides, and metalloids. Attention is focused on ecological biotechnologies of «green» synthesis of nanoparticles using natural objects as plants, bacteria, fungi, algae and viruses, and the importance of factors affecting biosynthesis is highlighted. The main properties of nanoparticles are summarized, in particular, their enzyme mimetic activity, ability to participate in redox processes and exhibit antioxidant effect. Considerable attention is paid to the use of nanoparticles in environmental remediation and solving modern environmental problems, as well as in biology, medicine, food industry and agriculture. The issue of risk assessment related to nanotechnologies and the analysis of the toxic effect of nanoparticles are considered.
