Summary: The book is devoted to the results of the archaeological investigations of the Akkerman fortress (Belgorod-Dnestrowsky, Odessa region). Which were provided by the Southern Medieval expedition of the Institute of the archaeology of the NAS of Ukraine in 1999—2010 by the projects of the Turkish Historical Association and TIKA, Foundation of Max Van Berchem and the British Institute at Ankara (BIAA). In the first part of the work the main periods of the history of the studding of the fortress was under consideration. The written records, maps, graphic and photo materials were analyzed also. The main attention was taken to the archaeological investigations.
