Summary: The monograph summarizes the known and obtained by the authors new scientific results on the physicochemical and structural characteristics of titanium oxynitrides, the conditions of formation of functional oxynitride coatings for the automotive, aviation, chemical industries, medicine. The approaches to the formation ol oxynitride coatings during low-temperature saturation from oxygen and nitrogen-containing gaseous medium and controlled oxidation of pre-nitrided layers are grounded. The decorative effect of oxynitriding of titanium alloys is demonstrated. The corrosion resistance in physiological solutions and biocompatibility of oxynitrided titanium alloys are evaluated. The strength and fatigue characteristics of titanium alloys afterer oxynitriding are presented.
