Summary: The monograph focuses on the development and adaptation of complex measurement tools that serve to obtain credible sociological information, as well as on the results that these research tools have yielded. The first three chapters consider methodological underpinnings for designing complex tools necessary to measure sociological indicators and describe in detail a number of sociological tests, questionnaires, scales and indexes developed and adapted by the authors of the monograph during 1992–2021. These research tools were tested in an annual nationwide social survey by the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which has been conducted for almost three decades to track the main changes in Ukrainian society. The last chapter highlights some factors contributing to (or affecting) the credibility of data collected in mass surveys, as well as public trust in these data and those performing the surveys.

Reading audience: The book is intended for sociologists, those teaching social sciences at higher education institutions, students majoring in sociology and postgraduates specialising in this field, as well as for all those interested in state-of-the-art methods of sociological research and studying problems related to the credibility of sociological knowledge obtained using quantitative methods.
