Summary: The monograph presents fundamental research on thermal and hydrodynamic instability in the flows of pure liquids and nanofluids, which take place in microchannels and porous media. The influence of the effects of rotation, Brownian and thermophoretic diffusion on the criteria of flow stability is considered. The problem of thermocapillary instability in a thin film of evaporating liquid is connected. The results of theoretical and experimental studies of the instability of the vapor layer during film boiling of the nanofluid are highlighted. The instability of bioconvection in porous media in the absence and presence of adsorption and the instability of bioconvective falling plumes and microorganisms that absorb oxygen have been studied. The results of numerical investigations of pressure and velocity self-oscillations arising in an air flow in a vertical channel with a local internal heat supply are also presented. At certain amplitude levels, these pressure oscillations can cause deterioration in the operation of heat and power equipment or even cause its destruction. The influence of the power of heat supply sources and the height of the vertical channel on the characteristics of pressure self-oscillations is investigated. Measures are proposed to reduce the amplitude of these oscillations to prevent their destructive effects on equipment.

Reading audience: For specialists in the field of thermophysics, hydrodynamics and thermal power engineering; will be useful for teachers and students of thermal energy specialties.
