Summary: An undeclared war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has led to large-scale and controversial changes in the states and social processes, as well as in the assessments, moods, aspirations, political preferences and priorities of citizens. Throughout 2023, members of the research community united in the Sociological Association of Ukraine, analysed and interpreted empirical data obtained in the first year of the war, discussed the established facts and dependencies at academic conferences, initiated, planned and carried out surveys. A small part of their observations is presented in the book, whereas the bulk of the book consists of generalisations and conclusions made by the structural units of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. These statements are mainly based on empirical evidence from monitoring studies on the structures and everyday life of the country's population in 2022—2023, as well as on interviews conducted as part of planned research.
Reading audience: Social sciences and humanities experts, who study various aspects of people's coexistence in extraordinary circumstances of life, work and everyday communication, those teaching social sciences at higher education institutions, along with students majoring in sociology (054) and postgraduates specialising in this field will find in this book materials for discussion and exchange of views.
