Pulsed detonation engines: current state and research results. Vol. 1. Overview of current state (English Edition)

Type of periodical: Monographies

Publication types: Online

Publication date: 2024

Summary: The book presents a historical overview of PDE research, highlighting breakthroughs in materials science, computing, fluid dynamics, and chemical kinetics that have addressed key challenges in controlled detonation. PDE technology, though still in development, has gained significant traction in countries like the USA, France, Japan, and Russia. In the USA, research on PDEs is regarded as a priority, with applications in aerospace, high-velocity marine systems, and unmanned systems. The book consists of two Volumes. Volume 1 reviews the progress in PDE development across leading countries over the past five decades, and Volume 2 focuses on research findings aimed at thrust augmentation, notably through ejectors installed at the detonation chamber’s outlet. Although PDEs face challenges such as noise and vibration, especially in larger-scale applications, their potential in UAVs remains substantial due to the less pronounced impact of these issues. This book serves as a critical resource for understanding the future of detonation-based propulsion technologies and their impact on modern engineering applications.
