Summary: The book analyzes the problem of the effectiveness of morality and proposes a model that, in the author’s opinion, clarifies the causes of moral deformations on a human path to freedom. The relationship is traced between the requirements of the reason and the action of the imagination in the process of forming a person’s moral beliefs and ideals. Special attention is paid to the development of means of understanding the phenomenon of a moral event and the very process of its «maturing», which the author considers as an eventness. This approach makes it possible to expand ideas about the interaction of such non-rational phenomena of moral consciousness as conscience, a sense of dignity, the soul call, the «own truth» of life, etc.

Reading audience: The book is intended for the prepared reader, who is able to consider such fundamental ethical and philosophical problems as testing one’s own faith by reflection and searching for authentic means of realizing one’s own project of freedom.
