Summary: The paper describes the mathematical model of the transport of respiratory gases and compounds of ultra-low concentration in the bronchial-pulmonary structures and their removal by cyclic breathing, the results of research on the formation, transport and removal from the body of a number of volatile organic compounds, potential biomarkers, the way of the effect on their physico-chemical and concentration properties as conditions and methods of determination, as well as a number of complications in the body. The results of studying the concentration distribution of volatile components of exhaled air using chromatography, fluorescence spectroscopy, and film-sol-gel sensor structures are given. The creation and study of the properties of gas-sensing composite materials sensitive to molecules of acetone and ammonia of ultra-low concentration is described. Polymeric structures based on polyvinyl alcohol and chitosan are described, as well as the study of the conditions of interphase gas permeability and the processes of mass transfer of active components from them to the model medium. The processes of oxygen and carbon monoxide transport and their detection in blood by non-invasive methods of modulation optical spectroscopy of the near-infrared range were investigated.
