Summary: The methodology for calculating ecological damage to natural ecosystems, taking into account the costs of their restoration, is highlighted, which is based on the assessment of supporting and regulating ecosystem services. Such an assessment consists of a step-by-step recalculation of biomass indicators (volume, reserves) through energy indicators, the cost of conventional fuel, taking into account the costs of ensuring trophic, soil-forming and climate-regulating functions of ecosystems. The corresponding calculation formulas are given depending on the types of natural ecosystems, as well as examples of calculating damage to deciduous, coniferous forests, steppes, meadows and swamps

Reading audience: The methodology can be used to calculate damage caused as a result of military actions of the Russian Federation for the purpose of reparation.
