Summary: A new to science variety of G.tsugae, G.tsugae var.jannieae, based on collections from China is described. For the G.lucidum complex taxa distributed in subtropical and temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere, identification keys and species descriptions are given. Furthermore, in view of the biotechnological importance of species belonging to the G.lucidum complex, a concise overview of bioactive substances derived from the complex’s representatives and their application in healthcare is presented in the Appendix.
