Summary: The monograph deals with a presentation of the theory of the elastic waves' propagation in compressible and incompressible bodies with initial (residual) stresses. The results are based on using the three-dimensional linearized theory of elasticity for finite and small initial deformations. The theory and practical non-destructive determination of uniaxial, biaxial, and triaxial stresses in materials are scoped. The work is based on the results obtained at the Department of Dynamics and Stability continuum of the S.P. Timoshenko Institute of Mechanics of the NAS of Ukraine.
