Summary: Low temperatures are widely used in industry for a wide range technological processes, as well as in trade and everyday life for food storage, medicines, etc. Therefore, knowledge of refrigeration will be useful for chemical engineering specialists techniques The textbook outlines the main issues related to artificial processes cooling used in industrial processes, in particular in chemical engineering. The theoretical basis of obtaining artificial cold and the main practical methods of obtaining it are considered low temperatures. The main attention is paid to moderate cooling processes (range temperatures from +20 to –100°C) and vapor compression refrigerating machines, as most often used in chemical processes. Cycles and schemes of the most common one-, two- and three-stage refrigerating machines, as well as cascade cycles, are given. Among other refrigerators of machines, heat-using refrigerating machines, namely absorption and ejector ones, are considered. A general overview of the equipment used in refrigerating equipment is presented. In addition, in the software product CoolPack, which allows you to perform calculations, is considered in general terms refrigeration equipment.
