Summary: The cognitive process that produces and organizes historical and socio-humanitarian knowledge is in constant motion, as are the socio-political and socio-cultural transformations of modern Ukraine. The first book of the additional volume «Encyclopedia of the History of Ukraine» (EIU) is a clear evidence of this. In a broad sense, the EIU project became a reflection of the newest — modern — foundation of historical knowledge in the state of Ukraine. Responding to public demand and the need to oppose Russia's armed, propaganda, and ideological aggression, in the first of the additional volumes, the central place is occupied by a block of articles on the newest period of the history of Ukraine, primarily after 2013. Accordingly, it widely presents the topics of the Revolution of Dignity, opposition to the occupation of Crimea and Russia's armed aggression, the Ukrainian political process in the post-revolutionary period, etc. A separate group of articles is devoted to samples of weapons and military equipment created in Ukraine and/or in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This entire array of articles is a response to public demand for a scientific study of the most recent period of history, especially considering Russian propaganda myths about the Euromaidan, the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, and the war in eastern Ukraine. After all, scientific historical knowledge in an encyclopedic format is mostly perceived by average users as more objective and reliable compared to other forms of presentation of scientific knowledge in the public information space.
