Summary: The monograph presents theretical and methodological bases foir the correlation of Quaternary events, examining the development trends in ecosystems and their components during the Quaternary, and microcyclic palaeolandscape successions during individual interglacials and glacials in Ukraine. The temporal-spatial subdivision of the Quaternary and the general principles, problems and rules of inter-regional correlation are considered. The correlation is based on the multidisciplinary study of palaeoenvironmental changes during the Eopleistocene and Neopleistocene in Ukraine. Graphic models of the short-term dynamics of Pleistocene and Holocene landscape are elaborated for different geographical zones. Correlations of Quaternary events in Ukraine with those in other loess areas in Eastern and Western Europe, and with the oceanic oxygen isotope scale, are suggested, as well as correlation with the Holocene framework of Northern Eurasia.
