Олександр Шумський: «Життя без боротьби я не вважав за життя»
Authors: Shapoval Yu.I.
Summary: The book presents a political portrait of Alexander Shumsky (1890—1946). A former socialist-revolutionary, later leader of the Fighting Party and later People's Commissar for Education in 1919 and 1924—1927, he was a staunch supporter of the policy of «indigenization» and «Ukrainization» and often went «against the flow» in official politics. For which he paid dearly: first the communist regime declared O. Shumsky a «national evader», sentenced him to ten years in exile, and later to a brutal murder in 1946. The author used unique documents and materials of the communist secret service, as well as other archival never-printed sources.
