","summary":"The purpose of the research presented in the monograph was to deepen the scientific foundations and study the practical tools of smart regional development strategy in the EU countries, to outline potential directions for the implementation of the best examples of European practice in Ukrainian realities. The monograph substantiates the theoretical and methodological approach to strategizing regional development on the basis of smart specialization; the main drivers of the implementation of the smart specialization strategy at the regional level were identified, as well as the barriers that hold back the process in Ukraine. A methodical approach to the analysis of regional development factors has been developed, which enables the construction of effective smart strategies that take into account the specifics of regional development and local competitive advantages, as well as being characterized by dynamism, flexibility and inclusiveness. An author's approach to the identification of regions by type of economic specialization (industrial, agrarian, commercial, variable and diversified) has been developed, taking into account the structure of gross added value formed over a certain period.
